Why Poetry Matters

Poetry Month continues~

I wanted to share Pam Allyn's Huff Post article,  Why Poetry Matters. She tells us to infuse poetry into daily teaching because children find freedom in poetry to write their stories as the deepest expression of themselves. She believes, as do many us of in education, that Poetry can be a "game-changer" for struggling writers and language learners. She challenges us to let poetry matter!

I've also included Reading Today's Online book review. They share some wonderful insight into just a few great poetry collections for K-12.
